Pajero was favoured over seven other finalists for the 4X4 of the year award: an accolade which confirms for Alto Mitsubishi that the vehicle is not only the most visually impressive 4WD on the market, but has the technology and power to compete at all levels. Pajero offers five different on-road configurations: from the five-door Exceed, VRX and GLX through to the more compact three-door X and R models. The Pajero R is a pristine example of prowess in driving style and engineering refinement. It emulates the vehicle that won the Dakar Rally most closely.
All Pajeros in the range offer the choice between the 3.2 Litre DI–D DOHC 16 valve intercooled turbo diesel with award winning common rail direct injection, or the 3.8l V6 S OHC 24 Valve MIVEC petrol engine.
The MIVEC engine produces a massive 184kW of power and 329Nm of torque, whilst the diesel at a more modest but still surging 118kW generates an enormous 378Nm of torque for unprecedented pulling power.
The DID common rail diesel engine played a central role in securing the 4X4 of the year award, but the MATT (Mitsubishi All Terrain Technology) also contributed to gaining this honour. MATT incorporates active traction and stability control, rear diff lock and ABS to make the Pajero a seriously stable four wheel driving proposition. MATT is standard fit-out across the range.
The handsome, imposing styling of the new Pajero family is a convincing synthesis of sporty dynamism, purposefulness and grace. Mitsubishi have also applied a high level of style and functionality throughout the vehicles with trip computer, multimode display, and in-dash six-CD stacker as standard in all models. The luxury Exceed also offers interior refinements such as wood grain paneling and six way power adjustable passenger seat.
Alto Mitsubishi, located on the Princess Highway in Gordon, is offering test drives of all of the award winning new Pajeros now.
